Compounded semaglutide ODT: cost and evidence (October 2026)
As of October 15, 2026, NexLife sells compounded sublingual semaglutide ODT at $199 month to month or $165 a month on a 12-month plan, while the FDA-approved Wegovy pill costs $149 to $299 a month through NovoCare, so an approved oral semaglutide now undercuts the compounded tablet at its starting dose.
Qualification: we found no published trial of a compounded semaglutide ODT; the Wegovy pill was tested as a pill, and its results do not transfer to a compounded tablet.
How much does compounded semaglutide ODT cost?
NexLife is the only seller in our database with a current, dated semaglutide ODT price. Its 3-month tile now reads $185, but the same page’s FAQ still quotes $597 total, or $199 a month, for three months. We record the tile.
| Plan length | ODT per month | Injection per month | ODT year total | Injection year total | Extra for ODT per year |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Month to month | $199 | $139 | $2,388 | $1,668 | $720 |
| 3-month plan | $185 | $132 | $2,220 | $1,584 | $636 |
| 6-month plan | $177 | $125 | $2,124 | $1,500 | $624 |
| 12-month plan | $165 | $119 | $1,980 | $1,428 | $552 |
Across our injectable index, 22 compounded semaglutide programs publish lowest all-in figures from $49 to $169 a month, median $96. The ODT’s $165 12-month rate sits near the top of that range. Standing injectable prices without a membership include Mondae at $87 and Eden Health at $99 a month; the lower stickers from Collective, WellMedr, SnagRx, Embody and NextMeds depend on a membership, a sale, a prepaid year or an unstated term.
Is the Wegovy pill a better deal than a compounded ODT?
This is the comparison that matters for semaglutide. Unlike tirzepatide, semaglutide has an FDA-approved oral form, and its self-pay price overlaps the compounded ODT.
| Product | Seller | Monthly price | FDA-approved? | Status | Source · read |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Wegovy pill (oral semaglutide) | NovoCare Pharmacy | $149 at 1.5 mg; $199 at 4 mg; $299 at 9 and 25 mg | Yes | Verified | novocare.com · Oct 15, 2026 |
| Compounded semaglutide ODT | NexLife | $165 (12-month) to $199 (month to month), same at every dose | No | Verified | nexlife.us · Oct 15, 2026 |
| Oral semaglutide lozenge (compounded) | Strut Health | $199 for a 30-day supply | No | Reported | struthealth.com · Sep 17, 2026 (not re-read Oct 15) |
The year view depends on the dose your prescriber sets. Here is the arithmetic at each Wegovy pill price point, held for twelve months, beside NexLife’s ODT:
| Option | Monthly price | 12-month total |
|---|---|---|
| Wegovy pill, 1.5 mg price all year | $149 | $1,788 |
| NexLife ODT, 12-month plan | $165 | $1,980 |
| Wegovy pill, 4 mg price all year | $199 | $2,388 |
| NexLife ODT, month to month | $199 | $2,388 |
| Wegovy pill, 9 or 25 mg price all year | $299 | $3,588 |
At the starting dose the approved pill costs less; at 4 mg it matches NexLife’s month-to-month ODT; at the top doses it costs more. The approved pill also comes with FDA review of its manufacturing and trial data. If you want needle-free semaglutide, ask about the Wegovy pill before a compounded tablet.
What does the evidence say about semaglutide ODT?
Semaglutide is a peptide. Swallowed or held in the mouth, most of it would be broken down or not absorbed, which is why the approved pill relies on its own specific formulation and dosing rules. A compounded ODT is a different preparation, and no seller we read publishes how much semaglutide it delivers to the bloodstream. Trial results for approved semaglutide, in pen or pill form, cannot be assumed for it.

Frequently asked questions
How much does compounded semaglutide ODT cost?
NexLife’s sublingual semaglutide ODT page, read October 15, 2026, prints $199 month to month and $185, $177 and $165 a month on 3-, 6- and 12-month plans, with no membership. The page’s FAQ still describes the 3-month plan as $597 total at $199 a month, so confirm the price at checkout. The ODT costs $552 to $720 a year more than NexLife’s injection.
Is the Wegovy pill the same as compounded semaglutide ODT?
No. The Wegovy pill is an FDA-approved oral semaglutide made by Novo Nordisk and tested in its own trials as a pill. A compounded ODT is prepared by a pharmacy, is not FDA-approved, and has no published trial behind it. They share a molecule, not a formulation, so the evidence for one does not cover the other.
Is the Wegovy pill cheaper than NexLife’s semaglutide ODT?
At the starting dose, yes: $149 a month at 1.5 mg through NovoCare against $165 to $199 for NexLife’s ODT. At 4 mg the pill is $199, the same as the ODT month to month. At 9 and 25 mg the pill is $299, more than any NexLife ODT plan. Your prescriber decides the dose.
Has compounded semaglutide ODT been tested in trials?
We found no published trial of a compounded semaglutide orally disintegrating or sublingual tablet. Semaglutide is a peptide that the mouth and gut absorb poorly, which is why the approved pill uses a specific formulation. Without published absorption data, the dose that reaches the bloodstream from a compounded ODT is unknown.
Why would someone choose a compounded semaglutide ODT?
Usually to avoid needles. That is a fair reason, but an FDA-approved pill now exists for semaglutide and costs less at its starting dose. Ask your prescriber why a compounded ODT suits you better than the Wegovy pill or an injection, and what happens to your price and plan if you switch.
Is compounded semaglutide ODT legal?
Compounded semaglutide in any form is not FDA-approved. Since FDA’s shortage-era grace periods ended in 2025, a pharmacy may compound it only for an individual patient whose prescriber documents a clinically significant difference from the approved drug. On September 18, 2026, FDA warned Empower Pharmacy that its semaglutide-B12 products appeared to be essentially copies.
